It’s not at all certain that the bill will pass through the Senate, even though Democrats have made many concessions and given the Republicans everything they wanted to make sure the commission remains nonpartisan. Republicans don’t give a shit about democracy any more, even after a personal plea by members of the Capitol Police. Some of the police sent an anonymous letter to every member of Congress today with a rebuke to those who did not want to set up the commission. Every Republican in Congress should be ashamed of themselves.
