The Russians are not even gathering up their dead soldiers. They are reportedly leaving them to lie on the ground and rot.
The title of this post is taken from what a young Ukrainian woman said as she was interviewed on BBC. She escaped one of the cities under siege in Ukraine, probably Kharkiv. All her friends were killed by Russians, dead from a bomb blast. She was on her way to Poland, and she was asked what message she has for the world. She began to cry and said “Please do cherish a clear sky.” The skies above many cities in Ukraine are thick with smoke and dust and debris – and Russian plane and bombs.
The war Russia is waging on Ukraine is depressing and hard to comprehend. If this is happening in Europe, it could happen anywhere. Even less comprehensible is the inability of the US and the European countries to do more to save lives in Ukraine. It’s a terrible feeling to know we are so powerless and watch this all happen.
I know one thing. Putin will burn in Hell. So will his troops. And maybe these women will send them there.
