The primaries in Georgia are over. We know that Herschel Walker was the one big-name candidate endorsed by Donald Trump who won his Georgia primary election. He was the most famous person running, and an old friend of Trump’s from The Apprentice TV show days. Most of the other candidates that Trump hand-picked in Georgia lost – by a lot. It was great to see the dangerous and insane Jody Hice go down in flames, especially. It was also a big relief to see crusty old insider trader David Perdue get flushed down the sewer tubes once and for all. (Not that Kemp is much better, but at least he saved our election in 2020.) Bye David!
It’s easy to understand why Herschel won. He was a very popular football player in Georgia (though not elsewhere) and he’s got a personality that football fans like. He’s approachable and friendly. However, if you are not a rabid Georgia Bulldogs fan, he doesn’t seem so impressive. He won’t debate, he won’t do normal media, (only far-right media) and he won’t talk to regular people about issues. He just has his Trumpy Greatest Hits – the election lie, more of the election lie, the radicals, etc. It’s hard to know what he thinks about actual issues because he won’t really talk about them, other than what Trumpy Republicans have told him to say.
Everyone is probably aware that Herschel Walker has a gigantic amount of personal baggage for a political candidate. On top of that, he doesn’t really live in Georgia, (his main house is in Texas), his wife voted illegally in Georgia while living in Texas, and he’s never run for any public office in his life. He has lied about his business. He has lied about his so-called “successes”. He’s famous because he’s a football player, OK? Nothing more. Trump likes name recognition, and that’s Walker’s biggest asset.
When Walker does talk to the media, he sticks his foot in it every time. Today he said there should be a Department of Investigation into Men Looking at Women’s Social Media. Or to that effect. Check out his bag of marbles in the mouth comments:

Herschel is in favor of surveillance for men looking at women online. Think of the huge job of tracking that!
People on Twitter commenting on this story were trying to be kind to Walker (like you would be kind to a person with a serious mental illness, which we know for a fact Walker suffers from) and give him the benefit of the doubt, so reporter Greg Bluestein clarified the comment Walker made.

If Herschel Walker ever does become a US Senator, god help us. He will literally have no idea what he’s doing. He would come into office knowing nothing about the job, nothing about the Constitution, which he has never read, and nothing about how to talk to the media or to his consituents. He would have no idea what he’s doing. None at all.
Most people can learn. But Herschel Walker probably has CTE from football concussions in addition to his serious mental illness. That means he can’t learn, he can’t retain information, he can’t improve. He literally can’t become a better politician than he is right now. The video above is the best he’ll ever be.
Georgians can love Herschel Walker for his football career, but we cannot allow him to be a US Senator. Raphael Warnock is an outstanding, compassionate and effective Senator for Georgia and should remain right where he is, working for all of us in Washington.
